Host/Hostess
Summary of Position:
Welcome and warmly greet guests on arrival. Manage the efficient and timely seating of our guests to a table that serves their wishes and/or needs, while balancing the entire dining room.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report to your shift on time, in a clean and presentable uniform, ready to work, and clock in.
- Completes opening/closing duties in accordance with approved procedures.
- Applies knowledge of full menu including the pizza numbering system, and other restaurant information such as hours of business, types of payment and other restaurant policies.
- Responsible for cleanliness of bathrooms and entrance ways of dining room.
- Answer telephone in a professional manner, takes names of parties, and is able to answer any customer inquiries with regard to the restaurant.
- Prepares and maintains a seating chart of the dining room for the shift and designates server stations to be used.
- Partially responsible for the overall appearance of the dining room throughout the shift.
- Greets and seats customer in a courteous and timely manner as they enter the restaurant while accommodating any special needs and/or requests of the guest, while balancing the customer flow in service stations.
- Able to assess the proper comfortable seating and cleanliness of the seating area before properly seating a customer.
- Properly display menus and encourages customers to an enjoyable experience upon seating.
- Communicates to the server staff when customers have been sat in their stations.
- Able to survey dining room seating area, to identify any delays in seating are taking place, and/or communicates delays in seating to the team, and able to properly records guest names and party information when delay in seating customers.
- Thanks customer as they leave and invites them to return again.
- Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers as situations arise.
- Be ready and willing to assist bus person with clearing and resetting tables.
- Able to lead and direct the work of others within the department.
- Communicates customer, order, and/or employee difficulties to management.
- Communicates any health and/or safety concerns or violations immediately to management.
- Communicates to management of shortage of particular stock.
- Conforms to restaurant policies and procedures at all times.
- Must be capable of going outside the general responsibilities of the department to insure the proper customer service for our customers.
- Attend all scheduled/mandatory meetings and/or training sessions as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous restaurant experience is not required.
- Must be a honest, dependable and a reliable individual with high level of integrity, who possess a clear understanding of team work with a high level of energy and sense of urgency.
- Must have the highest level of customer service skills, while able to multi-task, while being adaptable to the changing restaurant environment.
- Must possess strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Must possess and maintain valid required State BASSET and Food Handler’s certification.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time, as well as maneuver throughout the entire restaurant easily.
- Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 25 pounds
